About HBIR
HBIR is a
Registered Investment Advisor that works in partnership with financial
professionals to create and manage investment portfolios suited for each
investor's needs. Hamilton-Bates specializes in asset management, it is all
that we do. By analyzing vast amounts of historical market, fundamental and
economic data, the HBIR models and techniques help assess the attractiveness of
stocks, bonds, market sectors, foreign assets and cash equivalents within the
financial markets.
The Hamilton-Bates Difference
What separates Hamilton-Bates from the crowd of investment advisors is a
combination of proprietary research and open access. We pride ourselves on our
independent economic, fundamental, and technical analysis. We compliment
our proprietary research with the discipline to take positions contrary to the
herd if
that is where our work leads. Since even the best ideas are ineffective
without proper communication, we provide our financial professional partners and
clients with uncommon access to ensure that everyone is on the same page. We also
offer a Market Update newsletter, written weekly, to convey our take on market
events and to detail our expectations and outlook. This newsletter is available
via email to all financial professionals.
Top-Down Investment Style
Hamilton-Bates is a flexible manager, using a top-down approach to analyze all
relevant asset classes and sectors within the framework of our ‘macro’ outlook
screens. Analysis of commodity price trends, stock/bond relationships and the slope of the yield curve
are a few of the indicators used to evaluate the economic cycle and overall
economic outlook. Where we are in the business cycle is a large determinant of expected
asset class performance. In addition market valuations are measured to gauge
stock versus bond attractiveness, and the overall attractiveness of the market
in general. Finally, technical and relative strength analysis is done to provide
consistency between the economic outlook and the ‘message’ the market is
sending.
Portfolio Construction
With the analysis of the asset
classes and the overall outlook in place, mutual funds and variable annuity
sub-accounts are screened and selected, and the portfolios are built.
Hamilton-Bates offers two distinct Portfolio Strategy
options: Diversified Strategic Asset Allocation or the more concentrated and
active Tactical Asset Allocation. The Strategic Asset Allocation
Portfolios are diversified and balanced, holding a mix of stocks and bonds at
all times. The Tactical Portfolios are concentrated, and can be unbalanced
and/or non-diversified depending on market conditions.
